Park Royal ‘grotto’ staff will help Santa ship personalised gifts around the world
London, UK – 4th December 2015 – Photobox Group, Europe’s leading digital consumer service for personalised products and gifts and parent of the Photobox, Moonpig, PaperShaker, Sticky9, Hofmann, Posterjack and posterXXL brands is anticipating its busiest Christmas yet. The team has therefore brought in a Group record 965 new temporary staff to its manufacturing facility in Park Royal, North West London during the festive season to cope with the huge levels of demand and ensure no-one is left disappointed in the run up to the big day.
Photobox takes a third of its annual revenue during the last few months of the year, with orders flying out of the door right up until Christmas Eve. At this crucial time of the year, the Group has therefore recruited a significant number of hands-on helpers, who have each been given special training to ensure they can fulfil customers’ deliveries during this peak seasonal time and, most importantly, help transform millions of photos into lovingly produced, personalised Christmas gifts. For the next four weeks these employees will transform the Park Royal facility in to a non-stop, 24/7 Christmas ’grotto’ with production, warehouse and logistics teams working together to produce a smooth, seamless, successful Christmas.
These 965 additional helpers – the modern day elves of ‘Cyber Christmas’ – are part of the Group’s largest ever London Christmas workforce, with expectations that this festive period will be the Group’s biggest yet. A peak day last year saw Park Royal turn special photos and family snaps in to:
- 18,000 mugs – that is more than 13 mugs per minute, and stacking all those mugs on top of each other would reach six times higher than the Shard
- 11,600 canvases – that is about 8 per minute and equates to more than 5 times the number of paintings in the National Gallery
In fact, for Photobox, Park Royal is not just a UK grotto – but the European hub that sends Santa’s sleigh all over the world. Christmas gifts will be delivered to every corner of the globe, from neighbouring Ireland and France, just across the Channel, to as far afield as Japan and East-Asia.
Commencing the countdown to Christmas 2015, Stan Laurent, CEO of Photobox Group said:
“This year we are expecting a record Christmas on all fronts – with more temporary staff recruited than ever before, enabling us to serve more customers, ship more gifts and send our Photobox sleigh to more countries. With our team of helpers already being kept very busy, it is a constant reminder of the thoughtful nature of our customers, and that behind all great gifts are great people – both our customers, who dream up the gift and our staff, who bring that idea to life. I would like to raise a toast to a very happy, personal and thoughtful Christmas to one and all.”
