Moonpig Snaps Up Nickyl Raithatha as MD and Boosts Product & Brand Teams with Senior Hires from Farfetch, Net-A-Porter & Lebara

Moonpig has appointed ecommerce entrepreneur Nickyl Raithatha as Managing Director.

Nickyl takes the reins from July 2nd, based out of Photobox Group’s state-of-the-art new Clerkenwell HQ – Herbal House.  He joins off the back of founding and scaling Finery – one of the UK’s fastest growing fashion brands – to £15m in under three years. Prior to that, he was CEO of ecommerce at Rocket Internet, and ran TMT investments for a $5bn hedge fund.

He picks up the baton from outgoing MD James Sturrock who is pursuing his focus on earlier stage growth companies. Appointed in 2014, James has doubled the size of Moonpig business, delivering three years of double digit growth as the UK’s number one online cards company while building a top three position in online flowers and gifts.

“I can’t wait to start building on the momentum of this much-loved brand, bringing special moments to even more customers” said Nickyl. “The opportunity to take this business to new heights through continued product and technological innovation is huge, and I’m excited to be part of the journey.”

“Nickyl’s an ideal successor to James. His track record in scaling businesses and passion for data-driven transformation of the customer experience will propel Moonpig forward through the next chapter of its incredible growth story” said Jody Ford, CEO of Photobox Group.

Moonpig is also boosting its senior leadership team with three new roles as it innovates in product and user experience and continues the evolution of its brand following last years refresh.

Ronan Tighe joins Moonpig in the newly created role of Chief Product Officer, looking after digital product and UX.  He previously headed up Product Management at Net-a-Porter & Mr Porter.

Simon Doggett joins Ronan, taking the role of Head of Experience Design.  Simon previously enjoyed Design leadership roles at Farfetch and M&S.

Jo McClintock has joined as Brand Marketing Director after five years at Lebara, where she led the brand through its sale to a private equity firm.

The UK’s number one online cards retailer, Moonpig enjoyed double digit growth in 2017, sent over 15 million cards and has helped people celebrate well over 100 million moments since being founded in 2000.
